Bringing Pets to UTK Senior Photos

As a UT Knoxville senior photographer, I get asked all the time – “can I include my dog in my UTK senior photos?”. The answer is YES!! As someone who owns her own crazy hound dog, I understand how important a pet is to get you through life, and they deserve to be celebrated too. Here are 3 tips for bringing your pet to your senior session at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, or wherever you are located.

1. Have a Friend or Family Member Bring Your Pet

Let’s avoid the stress of handling your pet yourself. Have a friend or family member meet us with your pet at some point during the grad photos. Pick a specific location you’d like photos with your pet at and either knock those out at the beginning or end of the senior session. Then, your pet can go back home instead of getting anxious, hot or tired walking around UTK campus.

2. Buy Pet Outfits or Accessories

For your UTK graduation photos, it makes sense to show some school spirit as a true Vol! Include your pet by bringing a festive collar, bandana or jersey. Pets can be difficult cooperating when trying to dress them up, but you know your pet best. And if you think they’d be down, try out a fun accessory for your UTK senior photos.

3. Come Prepared to your UTK Senior Photos: Pack a Bag of Essentials

Instead of packing a school bag, it’s time to pack a bag of essentials for your pet. Here’s what I recommend for your UTK graduation photos-

  • Treats: These are essential to motivate your fur baby to pose and stay still for the camera.
  • Water: Especially if it’s a hot day, your furry friend will get thirsty from all the smiling for the camera.
  • Lint roller: This comes in handy when fur gets on your outfit or gown.
  • Poop bags: Self explanatory!
